Welcome to bellringing at Hambledon’s St Peter’s and Paul’s
Parts of our Magnificent church date as far back as the 1400s; Saxon times.
Through the ages the building has been extended with it’s splendid tower housing 6 bells, with a large ringing chamber. The bell weights range between 4.5cwt and 10cwt and age between 1749 to 1952.
The joyous sound of the bells can be heard resonating through the village and beyond for Sunday services, weddings, funerals and special events.
Our band of 13 is currently made up of villagers and locals from all walks of life aged between 15 and 85! With a combined age of over 600 years. One of the band members has been ringing for 70 years. Experienced, learners and in between, we range in ability. With a light-hearted approach we all love the art of ringing.
We gather weekly on a Thursday night for practice, often joined by neighbouring ringers and are always looking to recruit anyone who would like to join the band, beginners and returning ringers.
Our captain Jim Twiney and the rest of the band welcome you to visit on practice nights: THURSDAY’S 7.30-9pm.
